Zoila thersites

 

A beautiful big black species, thersites along with fiendii and decipiens are the more common species in the Zoila genus although there are some very highly prized sub species like thersites contraria being trawled at depths to 180 metres and a rare albino form eburnea dived at the same depths as the common form.

thersites thersites is mostly dived on sponges at depths of 2-45 metres along the South Australian coastline from Ceduna in the East to Cape Jaffa in the West.
